Preparation and storage of Nactalia products
Preparation and storage directions should be carefully followed as an incorrect preparation could affect your baby’s health and cause illnesses.
My dosage was wrong (I put to many or not enough scoops as indicated in the feeding table)
This is not dangerous as long as it happens exceptionally and is reasonable in terms of difference. If there is only one scoop missing, your baby might still be hungry and will ask again earlier. If the bottle is more concentrated, he will be satiated faster but could have difficulties digesting.
If you have any doubt on the preparation of your feeding bottle, systematically throw it away and prepare a new bottle. The feeding tables provide you the ideal dosage for your baby.
Can I add my baby’s infant formula to other food?
Follow-on and growing-up milks can be drunk alone or added to food the baby’s already familiar with (e.g. infant cereals or powdered chocolate adapted to your baby’s nutritional needs). Your infant milk is a perfect base for homemade vegetable purées. However, it is not advised to add sugar to any infant milk.
Can I prepare my baby’s bottles in advance?
It is inadvisable to prepare bottles in advance. Prepare them shortly before feeding and always throw away left-overs.
How do I prepare a feeding bottle with Nactalia formula milk?
Before each preparation carefully wash your hands and sterilise the bottle and all its accessories in boiling water for at least 10 minutes.
Measure the required amount water into a sterilised bottle (referring to the feeding table) cooled down to 40°C or at room temperature. Use poorly mineralised bottled water or tap water warmed up for 5 minutes.
Using the scoop provided with the tin, add the recommended number of levelled scoops of powder to the water (referring to the feeding table). Be careful not to pack the scoops.
Close the bottle and shake well until all powder has dissolved.
Before feeding test the temperature of the milk by pouring a few drops of milk on your hand or on the inside of your wrist.
Remember to wash the bottle and its accessories with soapy water and to rinse well with clear water.
Is it better to use glass or plastic feeding bottles?
You can use both
Can I use tap water to prepare my feeding bottles of formula infant milk?
Tap water is perfect to prepare feeding bottles of powered milk unless the water is softened or home filtered. Always use cold water and run the water for 1 or 2 minutes if you have not used your tap for a while. If you have a special spout, you should descale it regularly. Boil the water for 5 minutes and leave to cool down. Be careful to leave the water cool down to prevent from burns.
Can I heat Nactalia infant milks?
Nactalia 2 and 3 can be drunk warm. Always check the milk temperature before feeding your baby.
Are there risks of eliminating the vitamins when heating Nactalia infant milks?
Not if you heat them normally. Just be careful not to boil the milk as this might eliminate some vitamins sensitive to heat and ruin the milk’s nutritional qualities.
Do I need to warm up the bottle before feeding my baby?
Nactalia formula milks can be drunk warm or at room temperature. Nevertheless the powdered milk dissolves better if you use warm water to prepare the bottle.
Do I need to sterilise the feeding bottles?
Not necessarily. If you wish to, you can sterilise your baby’s bottles and accessories by soaking them in boiling water for at least 10 minutes. AFSSA (Agence Française de Sécurité Sanitaire des Aliments) reminds you that it is not necessary to sterilise your baby’s bottles if he is healthy, whether at home or in healthcare centres. Nevertheless always meticulously wash the bottle and its accessories respecting the recommended cleaning instructions (wash with soapy water and rinse with clear water)
Can I feed my baby with left-overs from previous bottles?
No. Always throw away left-overs prepared more than one hour before actual feeding.
How can I store the Nactalia formula infant milks?
Before opening, the milk keeps until the best before date written on every tin of the Nactalia product range. Once the tin is opened, keep it well closed in a cool dry place and use the product within maximum 4 weeks of opening.
